Assistant to the President
for Black Ministries
Pastor Jonathan Smith is an ordained minister of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He currently pastors the Tucson Sharon Church and serves as Assistant to the President for Black Ministries in Arizona Conference. A native of Chicago and a resident of Tucson for 25 years, Pastor Smith returns after fifteen years to pastor his home church. Pastor Smith is a graduate of Oakwood University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Theology with a Minor in Biblical Languages (Summa Cum Laude) and a Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies with an emphasis in Church Growth. In an effort to more effectively minister to the community, Pastor Smith earned a Master of Public Health from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Furthermore, Pastor Smith is a fourth year PhD student at the Mel & Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health majoring in Health Behavior Health Promotion and minoring in Health Psychology/Behavioral Medicine.

Pastor Smith is engaged in the Tucson community as an advocate and activist. Pastor Smith is currently serving as the Vice President of the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance (IMA); board member of the University of Arizona Cancer Center Community Advisory Board; and Secretary of the Southern Arizona Community Food Bank Executive Board.

Pastor Smith has been successfully married for over 27 years to his pearl of great price Flor Smith and from their union they have 3 wonderful young adult children. Pastor Smith's greatest joy is watching men, women, boys and girls mature in Jesus Christ. Pastor Smith's ministry goal is to make disciples disciplers! Pastor Smith's favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:19 "My God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus." His motto is "Have Bible, Will Travel."
